A Sneak Peek at The institute…
Streams of Study
The curriculum of The Work of the Ministry Institute is intentionally organized into two complementary streams of study. Together, these streams ensure that students are both biblically grounded and purposefully equipped for the work of ministry, reflecting the balance of knowledge, formation, and function outlined in Ephesians 4:11–16.
The Foundations Stream
The Foundations Stream provides the academic and theological core of the Institute. This stream establishes a shared biblical framework for all students, regardless of calling or ministry context. Courses within this stream focus on building sound understanding of Scripture, theology, and Christian formation so that ministry flows from truth, wisdom, and spiritual maturity rather than impulse or personality.
Instruction in the Foundations Stream emphasizes biblical interpretation, Old and New Testament studies, essential Christian doctrine, spiritual disciplines, and ministry ethics. These courses are designed to cultivate discernment, doctrinal stability, and a deep familiarity with the Word of God. By grounding students in Scripture and theological clarity, this stream of study helps guard against instability, doctrinal confusion, and immature practice, preparing students to serve faithfully within the Body of Christ.
The Pathways Stream
The Pathways Stream provides specialized equipping for the five-fold callings described in Ephesians 4:11: apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. This stream moves beyond foundational knowledge into focused formation, practical training, and Spirit-led activation. Pathways are not treated as titles to be claimed, but as callings to be discerned, tested, and stewarded with humility and accountability.
Each Pathway integrates teaching, guided practice, and ministry application within real-world contexts, helping students grow in clarity, character, and effectiveness. Emphasis is placed on healthy function within the Body, proper relationship to leadership and community, and the development of skills appropriate to each calling. The Pathways Stream exists to help students move from understanding to obedience to the call, and from preparation to faithful service, so that each part may do its proper work for the building up of the Church in love.
